Horry County residents indicted on charges of assault, rape

An Horry County grand jury returned indictments against dozens of residents for crimes that include attempted murder, lynching and criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to court records.

The indictments show these people were indicted on the following charges:

Monti Bellamy, 47, of Myrtle Beach, was indicted for armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and unlawful carrying of a pistol stemming from an incident on Nov. 15.

Dorothy J. Crossman, 46, was indicted for prostitution stemming from an incident on Nov. 20 where she agreed to perform a sex act for $40.

Shannon Rocky Green, 30, of Conway, was indicted for second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, lewd act on a minor and kidnapping involving a 11-year-old on Aug. 3.

James West Hemingway, 41, of Longs, was indicted for lewd act on a minor, kidnapping and assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct with a minor involving a 14-year-old on July 27.

Williams Vertel Hickman, 22, of Conway, was indicted for assault with intent to kill and two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill stemming from an incident on April 27.

Jason Lewis, 36, of Myrtle Beach, was indicted for lewd act on a minor involving a 13-year-old and an incident on Dec. 12, 2009.

Leron McCleod, 35, of Conway, was indicted for assault and battery with intent to kill, second-degree burglary and second-degree lynching stemming from an incident on May 26. McCleod also was indicted on willful injury to a jail because officials said on Sept. 5 he broke a sprinkler head inside his cell.

Domenic John Merino, 23, of Myrtle Beach, was indicted for attempted murder stemming from an incident on Jan. 26.

Frederick William Sheppard Jr., 36, of Conway, was indicted on two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of lewd act on a minor involving a 12 and 14-year-old in September and October.

Ross Garrett Smith, 22, of Myrtle Beach, was indicted for assault and battery with intent to kill stemming from an incident on April 5.
