Your spine angle is a critical part of the set-up process. When you set up open with the ball too far forward, your tendency is to drop your right shoulder. That will cause fat shots and the "bladed" shot. I advocate leaning toward your target and your weight will definitely be on your left foot, and I would like it to stay there during the swing. Again to feel this, set up to the ball with you right hand on the club. Slide your left hand down your left leg until you touch your left knee. Move your left hand over and grip the club. You will have a nice spine tilt left.
