Andrews man sentenced to 18 years for second sexual assault charge with a minor

An Andrews man was sentenced to 18 years in prison after a Georgetown County jury convicted him of sexually assaulting a minor, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Phillip Wayne Parsons, 31, of Andrews was convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and lewd act on a minor, according to Nancy G. Cote, an assistant solicitor. A jury convicted Parsons on Wednesday of the charges, which stemmed from incidents that occurred between Aug. 10, 2008, and Aug. 5, 2009.

Circuit Court Judge Steven John sentenced Parsons to 18 years on the sexual conduct charge and 15 years on the lewd act charge, Cote said. The sentences will run concurrently.

Parson was already registered as a sex offender and had previously been convicted of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, Cote said.
