Horry County police arrested one man and are searching for another on charges related to the shooting of a man in the Wampee community, according to Lt. Jamie DeBari.
Richard Earl Hemingway, 22, of Longs was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted murder, DeBari said. Police are searching for Tamorris Lakenya Webster, 18, of Longs on the same charge.
The charges against the men stemmed from an incident that occurred about 4 p.m. Sunday when police were called to the area of Star Bluff Road and Sweet Bay Road for gunshots being fired, DeBari said.
Police found a vehicle in the ditch with a bullet hole in the front passenger door, according to a previous news release on the incident. Officers later found a 21-year-old Longs man, Nigel Vereen, was being treated for gunshot wounds to his stomach and forearm at the Seacoast Medical Center in Little River.

Vereen was later transported to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for treatment.
On Wednesday, officers with the county police’s north precinct arrested Hemingway, but they have not located Webster, who is considered armed and dangerous, DeBari said.
Anyone with information regarding Webster’s whereabouts or the shooting can call the Horry County Police Criminal Investigations Division at 915-8345, Horry County dispatch at 248-1520 or to remain anonymous at 915-8477.
