A search for a man reported missing after his boat and vehicle were found in the Murrells Inlet area has temporarily been called off due to heavy weather, according to U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer First Class Christopher Evanson.
The search was called off around 6:30 p.m. and will resume later tonight once the weather subsides, Evanson said. If not, officials will pick up the search first thing in the morning, he said.
State and local authorities are searching for Harvey Cox, 58, of Florence.
Officials with the state Department of Natural Resources found a 12-foot row boat in the Murrells Inlet area Tuesday afternoon, Evanson said. The boat, which is camouflage in color, contained personal items belonging to Cox.

Authorities also found Cox's vehicle parked at the Murrells Inlet boat ramp, Evanson said. Coast Guard, DNR, the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office and Murrells Inlet/Garden City Fire Rescue are searching the creek for Cox.
More details will be posted as they become available.
