Store clerk shot, killed; Horry County police arrest four in connection with case

Horry County police arrested four Loris residents in connection with a string of armed robberies in Horry County, Georgetown, Myrtle Beach and North Carolina.

The four were arrested after a Tabor City convenience store clerk was shot dead during an armed robbery Sunday night.

Horry County Police were called to Loris Community Hospital at about 9:30 p.m., shortly after being notified of the armed robbery and homicide, in response to a patient who had a gunshot wound.

The patient gave police an explanation for the gunshot that turned out not to be true and led them to further investigate, said Horry County Police Lt. Raul Denis.

Horry County Police officers worked through the night piecing together a string of crimes that ended for the group with the shooting last night. As a result of their investigations four Loris residents were charged and arrested today.

Joshua Weatherspoon, 20, of Loris; Xzavia Parker, 19, or Loris; Franklin Crawford, 24, of Loris and Elias Collins, 22, of Loris have all been arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Horry County Police continue to investigate and are helping the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, the Tabor City Police Department and other local police departments investigate the crimes committed by the group.
