Volunteers needed for Scott Firefighter World Combat Challenge held in Myrtle Beach

Volunteers are needed to assist on the course of the Scott Firefighter World Combat Challenge that began today in Myrtle Beach, said Leslie Yancey, Horry County Fire Rescue public information officer.

The world competition features firefighters in 55-pound turnout gear running and climbing through a course intended to simulate the physical obstacles firefighters face - a challenge ESPN once called the toughest two minutes in sports.

It began today and continues through Saturday in the parking lot near Hard Rock Cafe at Broadway at the Beach.

Anyone interested in volunteering during the event can call 997-6966.
