Myrtle Beach police were called to a liquor store on Kings Highway after the store owner learned the alarm system was damaged and someone tried to break in, according to a police report.
The owner told police that on Wednesday two customers came into the ABC Liquor store located at 2605 S. Kings Highway and asked about unusual animal sounds coming from the ceiling near the front door, police said. The customers offered to remove the animal, which they said was a raccoon, for a fee, but the owner refused.
The owner said the noise stopped when the customers left the store. That night when the owner went to activate the alarm it would not work.
On Thursday, the owner said he noticed lattice outside the front window was damaged, but no entry was made into the store, according to the report. The owner called his alarm company and learned the wiring to it had been cut and found a ladder in the rear of the building going to the ceiling.
