An Horry County man remains jailed this morning after he was arrested Wednesday and charged with assaulting his sister and killing another woman's 3-year-old dog with a wooden object, according to warrants.
Samuel Gene Long Jr., 29, is charged with second-degree assault and battery, second-degree burglary, criminal domestic violence and ill treatment of animals.
Long is jailed at J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway and is awaiting a bond hearing.
On Monday, police said Long entered his girlfriend's home on Daisy Road in the Loris section of Horry County at 9 p.m. to get some clothes and two started to argue, according to a police report.
The woman told police that earlier in the day a prior criminal domestic violence charge against Long had been dropped.
The victim threw a bowl of food at Long when he entered the home. As the suspect was leaving, he slammed the door on her right index finger and her foot.
Long returned to the home five minutes later but quickly left, the report shows. The victim told officers she had a male friend stay at the house in case Long returned again.
Long returned at 3 a.m., entered through the front door, grabbed a wooden decorative hanging from the wall and started to assault the victim's friend, the report shows.
Long repeatedly told the two victims that he was going to kill them, the report shows.
Officers said that during the altercation, Long struck the victim's 3-year-old 3-pound Chihuahua dog in the head, killing it.
Then Wednesday, police said that Long entered his sister's home on Daisy Road while she was in bed. The woman said Long was 'acting very weird' and started going through her belongings, the report shows.
Long punched the woman in the face when she asked him to leave the home, warrants show.
The victim tried to call police but Long took the phone and broke it. Long pushed the woman to the ground, pulled out a knife and threatened to kill himself, the warrant shows.
The victim was cut in the hand when she tried to leave the house, but she was able to escape and leave the scene in a relative's vehicle. The victim suffered a 4-inch laceration to her hand, the report shows.
The victim later returned to her home. Long returned as well, but the woman called police and Long was arrested at the house.
Court records show that Long also was charged with criminal domestic violence after his was arrested on Aug. 19 and was freed after posting $1,000 bond the next day.
