A security guard at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center told Myrtle Beach police he was assaulted by a man he tried to stop leaving the emergency room, according to a police report.
The 33-year-old man told police he was notified by nurses that a patient with an intravenous tube still attached to his arm was walking out of the hospital, police said.
The guard tried to stop the man, who threatened to kill him, in the parking lot, but the suspect punched him in the head, according to the report. The man said he stepped to the side and waited for backup but the man left.
