Authorities were called Wednesday morning to West Brunswick High School in Brunswick County, N.C., for a threat at the school, according to Sgt. April Stanley with the sheriff's office.
The school resource officer Cpl. Darryl Marlow said a school staffer approached him and said there was a potential threat on campus at 10:30 a.m. today, Stanley said. Details of the threat were not released by police.
Additional deputies and officers from other police agencies went to the school and students and staff were evacuated from the buildings, Stanley said. Cpl. Justin Brown and K-9, Bruno, searched the campus, which included classrooms and school buses, but no threats were found.
Students and staff returned to the campus after it was searched, Stanley said. No charges had been filed at 2 p.m. today, she said.
