Police investigate Pawleys Island shooting that injured one man

Police in Georgetown County are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the Pawleys Island area Monday evening.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's office and the S.C. Highway Patrol are investigating the incident that happened around 7 p.m., according to Bob Beebe, spokesman for Midway Fire Rescue.

Beebe said representatives from Midway Fire Rescue took a gunshot victim to Waccamaw Hospital from the 800 block of Petigru Drive.

He did not know the condition of the victim, who he said was a 46-year-old man.

Beebe said the man's injury was not life-threatening.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known, and police still were looking for a suspect Monday night, according to Russell Goodale, spokesman for the Georgetown County Sheriff's office.
