The trial for two people charged in the 2008 robbery and fatal shooting of an Aynor man is set to begin today at the Horry County Courthouse, according to court officials.

Charles Andrew Skipper, 28, of Dillon, and Crystal Gayle Turner, 30, of Marion, each face charges of murder and armed robbery in the death of 54-year-old Ronald Rabon, according to court records.

Skipper and Turner are among six people charged in connection with Rabon’s death. Police say the suspects drove Rabon to an area along Tobacco Leaf Lane, took his wallet, money and cell phone and shot him. Garbage truck drivers found Rabon's body on Aug. 14, 2008.

In March, Turner was found in contempt of court and ordered to serve 90 days in jail after she appeared for a hearing about her bond terms. Authorities learned Turner had not followed her restriction to stay at home, according to authorities.

During a 2008 bond hearing, authorities said they believed Turner was the planner behind the robbery and shooting.

Jamie White, 24, of Sellers; Stacey Johnson, 30, of Mullins; Paige Skipper Furniss, 25, of Hamer; and Luther Oxendine, 25, of Dillon, also are charged in connection with the robbery and killing of Rabon. Their cases will be heard at a later date.
