A 28-year-old man who told Myrtle Beach police a man struck him in the head with a wrench was later arrested by police for public intoxication, according to a police report.
Gregory Wayne Kirby, 28, was charged with public intoxication after he told police that a 37-year-old man hit him in the head several times with a wrench on Sunday evening because he took the man’s bicycle the day before, police said. Kirby said the suspect hit him when he went to return the bicycle.
Kirby was treated at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and then arrested, according to the report. Police planned to seek an arrest warrant for the man who assaulted Kirby.
