A Spartanburg man was charged with assault and kidnapping after Myrtle Beach police said he held two women against their will, according to a police report.
Lewis Edwin Cannon II, 37, was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and battery, kidnapping and public intoxication after officers were called to the Sea Gypsy Motel at 304 N. Ocean Blvd., at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Two women, ages 35 and 17, told police Cannon argued with the older woman, grabbed her by the throat when she tried to leave the room and twisted the younger woman’s arm when she went to intervene, according to the report. The women said Cannon kicked in a bathroom door before he ran out of the room.
Police found Cannon walking near the motel and arrested him.
