The condition of a Waccamaw High School teen struck by a vehicle while walking last month in Georgetown County is improving, according to a family friend.
Jasonn Russell is no longer in critical condition and was moved from the intensive care unit at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to the children’s hospital there.
The 16-year-old was struck about 11 p.m. Aug. 29 while walking with other people along Litchfield Road, according to authorities. He was taken to Georgetown Memorial Hospital and transferred by helicopter to MUSC.
On Aug. 30, Thomas Gallagher, 18, of Pawleys Island turned himself in to police to face a charge of leaving the scene of a collision with personal injury, police said.
