Four families lost their homes to fires during the Labor Day weekend, according to the Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the Red Cross.
Four people were assisted in Williamsburg County a fire destroyed a single family home Saturday on Brooks Street and a mobile home was destroyed Sunday on Imgraham Road in Kingstree, according to Angela Nicholas, chief executive officer of the chapter.
Also on Sunday, a single family home on Lafayette Street in Georgetown displaced two adults and four children and a mobile home on Olin Road in Conway was destroyed and displaced two adults, Nicholas said.
Since July 1, the local Red Cross has assisted 100 people, including 29 children, who have lost their homes to fire. That includes nine fires impacting 24 people in Williamsburg County; six fires impacting 27 people in Georgetown; and 16 fires impacting 49 people in Horry County, Nicholas said.
