Myrtle Beach police arrest teen on charges related to fatal shooting

A fifth person has been arrested on charged related to a fatal shooting that occurred in Socastee last week, according to police.

Alexandria Nicole Jackson, 17, of Strand Village Mobile Home Park, was arrested by Myrtle Beach police about 3:30 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of South Myrtle Street, said Sgt. Robert Kegler with Horry County police.

Jackson was charged with accessory after the fact of a felony murder, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center. She is being held without bail.

Horry County police have arrested four others on charges in connection with the fatal shooting of Sylvester Smart. The 28-year-old died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after he was shot about 2 a.m. Aug. 21 in the 5300 block of Strand Drive in the mobile home park where Jackson and at least two other suspects lived.

During the weekend police arrested George Everett Gray, 28, of Conway, on a murder charge and Russell Dale Griffin, 20, and Savannah Michele Griffin, 19, both of Myrtle Beach, on charges of accessory after the fact to a felony or murder, police said.

The Griffins live in Strand Village Mobile Home Park just a few doors down from where the shooting occurred.

On Aug. 22, Alex Lorenzo Robinson, 28, was also arrested and charged with murder in Smart’s death.

The group is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center pending bond hearings.
