Traffic checkpoint on U.S. 17 yields 14 arrests, 43 citations

Area police issued 43 citations and arrested 14 people during a traffic safety checkpoint held Sunday evening on U.S. 17 at the state line, according to the 15th Judicial Circuit Law Enforcement Network.

Police also towed 14 vehicles from the scene of the checkpoint, said Myrtle Beach Sgt. John Bertang, who is the coordinator for the 15th Circuit.

The following violations were found during the checkpoint:

6 drivers license violations

7 vehicle license violations

One driving under suspension

3 driving under the influence

8 illegal alcohol cases

12 drug cases

2 child restraint violations

3 no proof of insurance
