Police still in standoff with man in Murrells Inlet home after nearly four hours

An hours-long standoff between police and a man in the Murrells Inlet area still is going on.

Georgetown County sheriff’s deputies have closed a section of Goude Street while they try to get a man out of a home on that street, according to LT. T.L. Staub of the sheriff’s office.

Staub said deputies responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. related to possible domestic violence on Goude Street.

When officers arrived they found a woman outside the home, but they have been unable so far to get the man to leave the home, Staub said. He could not provide a specific address.

He said the woman did not appear injured when officers arrived and he could not be sure whether the man had weapons.

``The incident is contained to one residence,’’ he said. He would not release the name of the man inside the home.

Additional details are not yet available.
