An electrical problem is believed to have caused an early morning fire at the Loris Shriners building on Lake Drive, Fire Chief Jerry Hardee said.
Firefighters were called at 3:19 a.m. Wednesday after workers and residents near the building saw a small fire on the front left corner of the building, Hardee said. Firefighters arrived by 3:25 a.m. and had gotten the blaze under control in 10 minutes.
No one was hurt and damage was contained to the left side of the building, Hardee said. The fire appeared to start in the electrical box on the side of the building and spread into the shrubs and pine straw. The fire does not appear to be suspicious and fire crews remained at the scene until 6 a.m.
