Surfside Beach Police are seeking information about several burglaries at beachfront homes and have shifted officers to focus on the burglaries, according to a news release.
The burglaries have occurred at night and the suspects enter the homes through unlocked sliding glass doors on the ocean side of the homes, said Surfside Beach police Capt. Arron Miller. The suspects have stolen small, easily carried items such as purses, GPS units, cameras, laptops, and cell phones.
Similarities in the cases have prompted police to believe they are related because they all occurred at occupied, unlocked beachfront homes between 2 and 5 a.m. during the last month, Miller said.
Residents and visitors should lock their doors at night and report suspicious people in their neighborhood, Miller said.

“We’re blessed with a very low incidence of serious crime here,” Miller said. “That’s why we’re taking these incidents so seriously.”
Anyone with information about the burglaries or suspicious people can call Detective Matt Prock at (843) 913-6349, or dial 911 if a crime is in progress.
