LEXINGTON, N.C. (AP) – Police have charged a 21-year-old North Carolina man with murder after investigators say a teenager was killed by a paving stone thrown through a car window.
Multiple media outlets reported that Michael John Craver of Lexington was arrested Saturday morning and was being held in the Davidson County jail. A jail officer said Sunday that Craver did not have an attorney. His first court appearance is scheduled for Today.
Officials have not identified the 17-year-old girl who was killed because family members had not been notified.
Investigators say both the girl and Craver were attending a party Friday night that spilled over into Saturday morning. The girl was sitting in the front passenger seat when she was hit by the stone. She died later at a local hospital.
