An N.C. man told police he was beaten by eight men who stole $7,000 from him, according to a police report.
The 28-year-old man from Asheville, N.C., stopped a Myrtle Beach police officer on bicycle patrol at 2:30 a.m. Thursday near Club Exception at 721 N. Ocean Blvd., and told the officer he was jumped outside the club by the men, police said.
The man said the robbers stole his wallet and his girlfriend’s car keys about 20 minutes before he reported it, according to the report. The man, who was intoxicated, told police his friend helped the men in the robbery and fled with them.
Police located the man’s friend a few blocks from the incident location and he told police he left after the man tried to fight with him for not helping him, according to the report. Police found the man’s wallet, but did not find the keys.
