An N.C. man was charged with trying to break into the pharmacy inside Myrtle Beach’s Kmart, according to a police report.
Roger Lee Williams, 38, of Thomasville, N.C., was charged with second-degree burglary after police were called at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to the store at 1403 N. Kings Highway, police said.
A store employee told police a man used a pry bar to try to open a locked door leading to the pharmacy inside the store, according to the report. The incident triggered an alarm inside the pharmacy that alerted employees.
The man ran out of the store to a vehicle and the employee followed the suspect until police stopped him, according to the report. Myrtle Beach police stopped Williams in a parking area near Kings Highway adjacent to the Kmart parking lot.
