A Myrtle Beach convenience store clerk told police a man armed with a gun tried to rob him, but he foiled the attempted because he doesn’t speak good English, according to the report.
The 21-year-old man told police at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday the armed man came into the Sea Mart located at 2402 N. Kings Highway and selected a package of gum, police said. The man said the armed man put the gum on the counter and then pulled out a handgun and demanded money.
The employee told the armed man he did not understand what he was asking and the armed man asked several more times before another customer walked into the store, according to the report. The armed man ran out of the store and the customer told police he saw the man run north on Kings Highway.
