A pedestrian was killed Friday night on U.S. 17 Business in Surfside Beach, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Steven Roberge, 33, died of blunt force trauma at the scene after being struck by a car, Horry County Deputy Coroner Chris Burroughs said.
A 67-year-old man was driving along U.S. 17 Business just south of S.C. 544 in a 1998 GMC pickup truck at 9:55 p.m. Friday when the pedestrian was struck and killed, said Lance Cpl. Bob Beres with the highway patrol. The man in the truck was wearing a seat belt.
The pedestrian was in the median crossing U.S. 17 Business when the incident occurred, Beres said. The crash is under investigation.

Roberge had been residing at the Rodeway Inn, 1725 North Kings Highway in Surfside Beach, Burroughs said.
