A Myrtle Beach man told police two men tried to take his wallet and cell phone from him because they were upset about their mo-ped being towed, according to a police report.
The 27-year-old man told police the men stopped him in the parking lot of 205 N. Sixth Ave. and asked him for directions to a nearby car lot, police said. The man said the pair got upset with him because they thought he was responsible for the mo-ped being towed.
The man said the other men tried to take his wallet and then his cell phone when he tried to call police, according to the report. The man said they left on a mo-ped when they realized he was on the phone with 911 dispatchers.
The men were not in the area, but an officer reported he stopped one of the men riding the mo-ped along South Ocean Boulevard but was unaware of the robbery attempt, according to the report.
