A Shallotte, N.C., man is being held on $25,000 bond at the Brunswick County Detention Center after being arrested on drug-related charges, according to Sgt. April Stanley with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
Marcus Charles Carlson was charged with intent to sell and delivered marijuana, manufacture marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia after agents with the sheriff’s drug enforcement unit went to Riverview Estates subdivision to investigate community complaints, Stanley said.
Agents discovered Carlson was operating an indoor marijuana grow inside his home, Stanley said. Police seized 24 marijuana plants, valued at $72,000; an indoor grow tent; ballast and other growing paraphernalia, which were valued at $3,000. Three rifles, a shotgun and a semiautomatic pistol were also seized from the home.
