A Brunswick County woman died after her vehicle left the road and overturned several times, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Renishia Nicole Jenrette, 21, of Supply, N.C., died in the single vehicle crash that occurred about 2 p.m. Saturday on State Road 1130 near Shallotte, N.C., said First Sgt. A.E. Morris with the highway patrol.
Jenrette was traveling west when she came to a curve in the two lane road and her 2002 Volkswagen ran off the right side of the road and overturned several times before it stopped on its roof in a field, Morris said. Jenrette was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but troopers determined speed was a contributing factor, Morris said. Authorities estimated Jenrette was going 70 mph in the 55 mph zone on the road.
