Charges will not be filed in the death of a 15-year-old Loris High School student, who was killed early Saturday morning by a shotgun blast in Longs, authorities said.
Horry County police conferred with the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and determined charges will not be filed in the death of Caleb S. Moore, Sgt. Robert Kegler said. The incident occurred at a residence on GP Smith Rd. in Longs.
Moore and his 12-year-old brother had the gun shortly after midnight, when it went off and hit the teenager, said Horry County Coroner Robert Edge. Moore died at Loris Community Hospital at 2:34 a.m., Edge said.
Moore attended Loris High School where he was a rising 11th-grader, according to school officials.
