Horry County police charged a Loris man in connection with a stabbing that occurred earlier this week, according to Sgt. Robert Kegler.
Jerome Grate, 52, was charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident that occurred about 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Kimberly Drive, Kegler said.
Police were called after a person was stabbed in the abdomen and was taken by EMS to an area hospital for treatment. Grate was taken into custody at the scene, but not formally charged until late Wednesday.
Neither the motive for the stabbing nor the relationship between the victim and Grate are clear at this time, Kegler said. The incident remains under investigation.
