An Ohio man was indicted by an Horry County grand jury on charges he assaulted his wife and son and tried to set a blanket on fire inside a Myrtle Beach hotel room, according to authorities.
Richard Cecconi, 51, of Warren, Ohio, was indicted on charges o criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, according to court records.
A Myrtle Beach police officer was flagged down by an employee of the Westgate Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resort at 415 S. Ocean Blvd., on May 8 for the incident.
The employee told police Cecconi came into the lobby and said he was attacked by five people, according to the report. In talking with Cecconi, police noted in the report his story changed several times about being attacked.

Officers made contact with Cecconi's 49-year-old wife and 24-year-old son, who were staying in a room at the resort to secure Cecconi's belongings that he had with him, according to the report. The man's son told police his father had been drinking and he saw him try to light a blanket on fire inside their room.
The younger man told police when he grabbed the blanket from his dad, the two began to struggle and his dad threatened to kill him, according to the report. The woman tried to break up the incident, but was thrown against a wall.
Cecconi calmed down, gathered his belongings and left the room, according to the report. The younger man and woman were treated at the scene.
