Florence man charged with assaulting woman in Myrtle Beach hotel

A Columbia woman told police a Florence man she was on vacation with in Myrtle Beach broke her toe when threw a vase of flowers at her, according to a police report.

John Madison Elliott, 52, was charged with simple assault after officers were called about 2:45 a.m. Thursday to the Patricia Grand hotel at 2710 N. Ocean Blvd., police said.

The 36-year-old woman told police she and the man started arguing in the parking tower and when they got to the room Elliott went to bed and she took a shower, according to the report. The woman said when she told Elliott she was going out he got upset and threw a vase at her.

The woman said she told Elliott she was going to call the front desk and he took the telephone and told her he was going to throw her over the room’s balcony railing, according to the report.
