A 17-year-old has died from injuries he suffered in a single vehicle crash in Murrells Inlet, according to authorities.
Michael David Causey of Murrells Inlet died Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston from injuries he suffered in a vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said.
The teen was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck along Prince Creek Parkway and ran off the roadway, said Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol. The vehicle overturned and Causey was injured.
Causey was wearing a seatbelt, Collins said. Troopers are investigating the crash as to why Causey ran off the roadway.

Born in Myrtle Beach, Causey was a son of Kelly and Wendell Vereen and Gabriel and Claudia Causey. He was a student at St. James High School and would have been a senior next year, according to Joe Dowling, principal at St. James.
Dowling said Causey was never in any trouble at school, adding that he was a member of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) and that he remembered seeing Causey at school in his uniform.
“He was just a nice kid,” Dowling said. “I hate it for his mom and dad.”
