A 5-year-old Horry County boy was recognized Tuesday for helping save his neighbor’s home from fire, according to Leslie Yancey, spokeswoman for Horry County Fire Rescue.
Horry County fire officials gave Andrew Jackson the Super-Hero Award, which recognizes community members who demonstrate the courage to assist those around them in an emergency situation, Yancey said.
Jackson saw his neighbor’s house on fire on June 9 and immediately went to his dad to get help.
"I ran to my dad and told him to call 911," Andrew told emergency officials. "I knew we had to get the firemen there."
