Two people died in a car crash early Sunday morning, according to reports from the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Hermilo G. Vargas, 23 and Emilino Ramirez, 35, both of Supply died on the scene of the accident early Sunday morning, said Sgt. C. K. Parks, spokesman for the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Parks said Vargas was driving the Pontiac about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, traveling at a speed of about 80 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone on Boones Neck Road near Holden Beach, when he lost control of the car. The car ran off the right side of the road hitting a tree and deflecting back across the highway, flipping several times and traveling over the median before coming to a rest on the opposite side of the road.
Parks said both men were ejected from the car during the crash. He said they were not wearing seat belts, and died at the scene of the one-car accident.
