A Myrtle Beach man was charged with petty larceny after an officer found an unfired bullet in his belongings and the man admitted he stole it from a police vehicle, according to a police report.
Rodney Wayne Rowan, 27, was charged with public intoxication and petty larceny after an officer stopped him about midnight Sunday, police said. Rowan was stopped for public intoxication and when officers searched a bag he was carrying they found the bullet.
Rowan told police that he took the .40-caliber bullet from an unmarked police vehicle when he was working for a car cleaning service in April, according to the report. Rowan said he found the bullet while he was vacuuming the car.
