Email/website: What is the top issue in your race and how would you address it? Getting permanent jobs in the rural counties such as Columbus and rural Brunswick is priority one. The state needs to look at reasonable and enforceable incentives for small business and larger corporations that will guarantee job creation in these areas. More active recruitment efforts are also needed. Lowering corporate and small business tax requirements may be one way to address this need. What in your experience has most prepared you for this office? Why? I have been involved in civic service for 22 years and also taught school for 30+ before retiring. This experience along with my business experience as a successful farmer has prepared me for the wide range of skills that are necessary for the office of State Representative. I have always considered myself as a good consensus builder and will use this skill to bring results for the counties I would represent. How do you gauge the will of the people? I have learned the lesson of "listening" to what all people have to say without immediate comment and taking this information to form a majority opinion of what the people want. Many times people that converse with you have good ideas about what needs to be done to improve their way of life, they just don't have a ready and viable "fix" for the overall population.
