Email/website:, 1.What is the top issue in your race and how would you address it? Drugs are Brunswick Counties biggest crime issue. It is the root cause of the overwhelming majority of all crime. Drugs are a problem that touches everyone in our community in some way, whether they realize it or not. The addiction and compulsion cycle is familiar to many of you on a very personal level. It causes lives to be ruined and families to be broken. Additionally, drugs create a trickle-down effect throughout all aspects of law enforcement, but especially theft and burglary rates. Drug addicts quickly develop habits costing them more money than they make or have access to, thus they turn to theft and fraud to get the cash they need to get high. Nothing is sacred and the usual victims are hard working normal citizens and family members. My goal is to not only investigate and arrest those end users who are addicts, but to also put focused effort into identification, investigation and prosecution of middle and upper level suppliers and dealers. Addicts are not the only ones who should be held responsible for the drug trade in our county - those who profit from poisoning our friends and family will be as well. 2.What in your experience has most prepared you for this office? Why? My college education and more than a decade of experience as a professional law enforcement officer have prepared me for this office. Both my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice, and my Masters degree in Organizational Management relate directly to leading a large agency. Combine that with over ten years proudly serving as a North Carolina Trooper and that has prepared me with the law enforcement experience needed to be the next Sheriff of Brunswick County. 3.How do you gauge the will of the people? It’s easy for me to gauge the will of the people of Brunswick County because I talk and interact with them on a daily basis. Electing me will mean the end of the good ol’ boy system where your Sheriff only listens to or represents a very small portion of the members of our community. I will reconnect with the citizens of Brunswick County to earn their trust and provide exceptional customer service to all residents, not only those who are wealthy, affluent or significant campaign contributors. I owe no one any political favors because the good ol’ boy network has no power over me. Brunswick county residents can be assured that the BCSO under my leadership will provide consistent customer service throughout my elected term.
