Callaway has new Odyssey Black Series putters on the market

Callaway's Odyssey Black Series Tour Design line of milled putters were crafted with input from several touring pros and became available Jan. 15. With a new black look, the putters feature updated shapes and more head options. Each putter is milled from 1025 carbon steel for the soft feel demanded by the best players in the world. Black Series putters feature Advanced Roll Technology for a precise response and true roll. It is achieved through multi-material construction using tungsten weighting, which creates a quicker, more favorable roll by moving the center of gravity back and lower in the putterhead. A urethane dampening layer is placed between the carbon steel putter head and the tungsten flange, which enhances the feel at impact. The TD Milled Face has a deep milling pattern that generates consistent impact performance across the face. Each putter is finished with a Deep Black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating, producing a durable, glare-free look. The putters are available in several core models, including the No. 2, No. 4, No. 6 and No. 9. The introductory retail price is $269. Visit www.odysseygolf.com.

STX unveils new putters

STX, known in the industry for putter innovation and its patented Soft Face Insert Technology, has transformed 9740 and 9750 putters that are becoming available this month. The putters still resemble the popular 97 Series from the past but now possess contemporary lines, satin finishes, new shafts and new grips, and are offered in 34- and 35-inch lengths. The STX 9740 putter features a traditional-style blade head that is machined from 17-4 stainless steel, weighs 345 grams, and incorporates a fixed patented STX elastomer face insert. All three STX face inserts will be available in the 9740; the softest black insert, the medium resilient red insert and firmer green insert. The heel-shafted putter has heel-toe weighting, a plumber's neck hosel, a KBS shaft and custom Golf Pride V-Rad golf grip. Suggested retail for the 9740 Putter is $149 and includes a custom STX collectable head cover.

The STX 9750 is a heel-toe weighted putter but encompasses a flare neck hosel and weighs 340 grams. It also is machined from 17-4 stainless steel and is offered in all three STX face inserts. The classically-designed 9750 blade-style head incorporates a KBS shaft. A custom Golf Pride V-Rad golf grip with a semi-pistol shape adds touch and consistency with its texture and tackiness. The 9750 Putter will retail for $149. Visit www.stxgolf.com.
