New direct flight from Myrtle Beach to Huntington, W.Va. announced

Officials announced a new direct flight from Myrtle Beach International Airport to Huntington, W.Va., according to a news release issued Tuesday.

Allegiant Air LLC, a subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company, announced the direct flight with introductory fares starting at $39 one way, but must be purchased by March 28 and travel completed by Sept. 30, according to the release. A second city will be added later to the service.

After the introductory period, one-way fares to Huntington will start at $59, according to the release. Reservations can be made at www.allegiantair.com, or by calling 702-505-8888.

“We’re extremely pleased to add Myrtle Beach to our growing roster of world-class leisure destinations,” said Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., Allegiant president, CEO and chairman, in the release. “This is an exciting new market for our airline and our customers. We look forward to a successful relationship with Myrtle Beach community leaders, Horry County Department of Airports, the local communities and all of our customers.”

The new flights to Huntington will operate twice weekly, with service Thursday and Sunday. Flights will depart Myrtle Beach at 1:10 p.m. arriving in Tri-State Airport at 2:30 p.m. Flights leaving Huntington will depart at 9:30 a.m. arriving in Myrtle Beach at 10:50 a.m., according to the release.

Allegiant will utilize 150-seat, MD-80 series, jet-aircraft on the route.
