Local rock legend Sqwearl is dusting off the mothballs to headline a show Friday at Pirate’s Cove, which also features Flick It, Strike-O-Matics and Kid Kappa. If you grew up around here in the ‘90s and love rock ‘n’ roll, chances are the independent CD “eight ball of confusion” from Myrtle Beach grunge rockers Sqwearl was in your collection. The band, which performs every now and then, has weathered the death of band members Chris Frye (bass) and Wes Long (guitar). Sqwearl’s line-up on Friday features vocalist David Koon, guitarist Brian McKenzie, bassist Robbie Frye (Chris Frye’s younger brother) and drummer Langdon Gunter. Robbie Frye is pulling double-duty, also performing with his band Flick-It. Show time is 9 p.m. Friday. There is a $5 cover charge at the door. Pirate’s Cove is at 205 Main Street, North Myrtle Beach. Call 249-8942 or visit www.piratescovelounge.com.
