THE LOCALE | Star Tavern

THE LOWDOWN | If you're looking for some southern-style comfort food and spirits, head over to the Star Tavern in Little River. You'll find plenty of live music there, too. That's where we went for happy hour this week.

The Star Tavern is located off U.S. 17 in Little River in the building that used to house Rubi's Texas Grill. The walls, floor, booths, tables and L-shaped bar are all wood. It's comfortable and cozy and provides a home away from home for locals and tourists.

This tavern is all about the music. The decor includes photos of musicians, cymbals hanging on the walls, and you'll even find some vinyl records propped up on a table. There's a spot in the corner where bands set up, and their tunes can be heard throughout the locale. The tavern hosts live music four to five times a week, including a Songwriters Night.
