After his partner (Tommy Lee Jones) is assassinated by a mean alien, Smith travels back in time to attempt to prevent the murder. Josh Brolin co-stars as Jones’ younger self — and, by the looks of the trailer, steals the movie outright.

“The Grey”: Joe Carnahan is a writer/director who knows what he does well and sticks with it. His two previous films may have ranged in theme – “Smokin’ Aces” was a violent collage of over-the-top gangsters and “The A-Team” was a reimaging of the classic TV show. But both were fun to watch action flicks. In his latest, he reteams with Liam Neeson in a man against nature allegory.
