There are two things you have to see when you come to the Grand Strand: the ocean, and Calvin Gilmore's hit variety show The Carolina Opry. It's that simple. The first variety show in Myrtle Beach - and still the jewel in its crown, the award-winning show blends two hours of critically acclaimed music, comedy and dance with 35 of the nation's top performers. Recently named by CNBC as the "Top Attraction in Myrtle Beach," you know it has to be good! Performances on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 8 pm.
Three nights a week Gilmore Auditorium also brings you Good Vibrations! The best music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, blended with rich multimedia screens, special effects, and elaborate costuming, all performed live by the award-winning cast of The Carolina Opry. This fast-paced, high-energy show will take you back to the decades that brought us the best in American popular music. You won't see anything else like this on the Grand Strand! Shows Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 pm.
The Carolina Opry continues their popular summer matinee series for 2011! Each Tuesday, a matinee performance of The Carolina Opry or Good Vibrations will begin at 2pm! The perfect way to get in out of the heat and relax for a few hours!
While you're here you can also catch their incredible LIGHT Laser Show Extravaganza. The newest offering in the Carolina Opry Theater, LIGHT, is 45 minutes of dazzling lasers coupled with a variety of musical themes. Show choices include The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Praise, Classic Rock, Family Fun and more. You have to see a show like this to believe it - the New York Times said of a one-time performance in New York, "...you can really walk out exhilarated."
