CCU basketball team signs forward

From staff reports

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers men's basketball team announced the signing of forward Marcus Macellari on Monday, filling the void left by the departure of Bryant Wallace last week.

The 6-foot-7 Macellari averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 assists as a senior for St. Joseph's High School (Ind.) last season. Ellis said he is the top-passing frontcourt player he saw on the recruiting trail this year. The signing completes the Chants' 2008 class.

Coastal's class has been focused on the backcourt with the signing of guards Mario Edwards, Dexter Moore, Rashard McGill and Darius Steger. Macellari replaces the 6-foot-7, 280-pound Bryant.

Macellari earned second team All-Northern Indiana Conference honors as a senior.
