The Grand Strand Bowling 2015 Match Games were held at the Little River Lanes on Saturday with Sal Marsicano Jr. winning the Classic Division over 16 other bowlers, defeating Jason Holsinger, 216-192. Sal was the high qualifier averaging 241 for six games. The roll-off began with Jeff Evans defeating Jimmy Grago, 224-139. Evans then lost to Holsinger, 247-246. Shane Allsbrook had the high game during the qualifying block with a 288.
The Senior Division had a good turnout with 23 bowlers competing. Darryl Reed won the final game with a 299, leaving a ringing 4 pin on his last ball. He defeated Eric Grainger, who bowled 217. Grainger had defeated Ken Shealy 203-200 and Larry Goosney, 235-208. In the opening match, Goosney beat David Hawes 245-236. Reed was the top qualifier, averaging 226. Shealy had the high game during the qualifying block with a 279.
The 10th annual Seniors Handicap Tournament was held the previous week at Surfside Bowling Center. Breakdown of Divisions are: Class A - 66 & up, Class B - 50 to 65. The winners were:
Mixed Doubles: Marilyn Dumas and Mike Dumas 1432; Men’s Doubles: Michael Spinelli and Mark Maesano 1446; Men’s Singles: Class A - Michael Spinelli 749; Class B: Bill Harman 677; Men’s All Events: Class A: Michael Spinelli 1478; Class B: Ken Shealy 1404; Women’s Doubles: Karen Clevinger and Jeanne Koehler 1379; Women’s Singles: Class A: Jeanette Sabiston 768; Class B: Dorothy Davis 679; Women’s All Events: Class A: Marilyn Dumas 1400; Class B: Cindy Lynch 1368.
