High school football roundup

The Blue Jackets are picking up where they left off last season.

The Blue Jackets are picking up where they left off last season.

Coming off one its best seasons in school history, the Aynor football team defeated Creek Bridge 42-0 on Friday night to improve to 2-0.

“Football’s fun right now,” Aynor coach Jody Jenerette said. “We’ve been to the bottom, so definitely being able to win games early is fantastic for our team and our community.”

Fullback/linebacker Louis Taylor set the tone early, Jenerette said, by being involved in several plays on defense and scoring the Blue Jackets’ first touchdown on a 32-yard run.

“Louis Taylor is playing lights out at linebacker,” Jenerette said. “He’s having a great start to the season. Louis set the tone early.”

Usually a team that milks clock with its running game, the Blue Jackets passed for 132 yards and three touchdowns. Jackson Woodle connected with DQ Nash and Kamron Johnson for first-quarter scores and hit Nash again in the second quarter for a TD.

“They gave us some wide-open shots and we took them. It was kind of easy to throw it,” Jenerette said. “They just gave us the defense that you can go down and throw it. We’ve gotten a lot better in that area. … If they’re going to give it to you, you might as well take it.”
