The Coastal Carolina women’s golf team set a school record for a 54-hole tournament score on Tuesday, shooting an even-par 288 on the final day of the Pinehurst Challenge to close out a 9-under 855.
The score on Pinehurst Resort’s No. 1 Course shattered the program’s previous record of 1-under 863 set at the 2013 M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate.
CCU finished second, eight strokes behind East Carolina, which won the Pinehurst Challenge for the second consecutive year.
Reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Malene Krolboll Hansen shot a 74 in the final round to finish second individually by one stroke to Jacksonville State’s Valentina Giraldo with a 7-under 209 (68-67-74). That total is two strokes off the senior from Denmark’s 54-hole school record set at last year’s Golfweek Conference Challenge.
